Literature Text

When I was a kid...
I would try to end my life
I was fat
I was ugly
I was weird
I was different

Even after trips
To doctors 30 miles away
Nothing would heal
My parents thought
I would be a lost cause

I had so many dreams
Of killing myself
Shedding blood everywhere
Watching my lifeless body
Drown in my own blood

But...
The blood became purple
And, floated up to me
It said, in the
Sweetest feminine Voice

She said
"Young girl,
Why do you shed
Your blood so
Freely?"

I said
"Why shouldn't
I? No one
Wants me in
This world anyway."

She shook her head
And glowed brightly.
It showed my parents
And brother crying.
It showed people
At my middle school
Crying, even ones
That I thought hated me.

I asked why
She would show
Me these horrible
Lies.

She simply said
"What Lies?"
And disappeared.

When I woke up,
I felt
Better.
Did that dream
Save me?

I am now 18
A legal adult.
I keep remembering
That dream that
Saved me.

We should never
Hate.
We only should
Make Harmony.
After all...
Aren't we all equal?

This is my submission for Spirit Day. I wasn't in a drawing mood, so I decided to contribute a poem.

Note, the events in this poem are based on true experiences by the writer.
